Join us for a guided walk of Lochnagar

One of our favourite mountains in the North East of Scotland, Lochnagar is a spectacular Munro, famous for its dramatic northern corries, rugged cliffs and magnificent views across the Cairngorms National Park.

The hills of the White Mounth are simply stunning. With a different landscape to the high Cairngorm plateau, the area supports a rich variety of plants and wildlife, including rare alpine species found on the sheltered ledges of Lochnagar's northern corries. Mountain hares, ptarmigan and red deer are regularly spotted, and you may even be lucky enough to see a golden eagle soaring overhead.

The area is also steeped in history, with strong connections to the Royal Family and the Balmoral Estate. Your qualified Mountain Leader will share stories of the landscape, its wildlife and history as you explore this beautiful part of Royal Deeside.

Our guided walk takes us to the summit of Lochnagar, Cac Càrn Beag (1,155m), before descending towards Loch Muick via the Falls of Glas Allt and Glas-allt-Shiel, Queen Victoria's historic retreat.
