The Knoydart Munros

Some say it’s the most beautiful area in Scotland for walking, with stunning views and rugged terrain. The Knoydart Munros are logistically hard to reach but well worth the effort! The area is very remote and offers walkers a variety of scenic route from Inverie Bunkhouse, including 3 Munros and 5 Corbetts.

This trip includes 3 nights accommodation at the community-owned Knoydart Foundation Bunkhouse, where you can refresh and relax in the evening. The bunkhouse provides all bedding, cooking equipment, toilets, showers, and there is a community shop not too far away. We recommend you take all of the food you need for the trip. The Old Forge Pub serves food when open and we’re sure a well deserved drink will be welcome on the last evening!

Day 1: Catch the Knoydart Ferry Service from Mallaig to Inverie. This journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes, offering a great opportunity to see some wildlife along the way. Our guide will likely catch the ferry mid-afternoon but you have the flexibility to be there earlier or later if easier. If you don’t join the same Ferry, our guide will meet you at the pier on Inverie. Ferry costs are not included in the price.

Day 2 - Munros:

Luinne Bheinn (939m) - sea swelling hill

Meall Buidhe (946m) - yellow rounded hill

Total distance approximately 27km with 1600m ascent. Duration 10-12 hours.

Day 3 - Munro:

Ladhar Bheinn (1020m) - hill of the hoof

Total distance approximately 23km with 1400m ascent. Duration 9-11 hours.

Day 4: Catch the ferry back Mallaig at your own time.

Please note in the unlikely event that the Ferry is not running due to sea conditions, you may have to find accommodation in Mallaig (at your own cost) until the journey can be made. An alternative walk may be offered in the area.
