Bike & Hike - An Sgarsoch & Carn An Fhidhleir
Summit these remote Munros in the wild lands of the Cairngorms, biking into Glen Geldie to shorten the day
Start Time: 08:15 for 08:30 start.
Location: Linn o’ Dee car park, near Braemar.
Walk Grading: Level 5 walk. Find out more about our walk grading here.
Terrain: Begins with an easy cycle to Ruighe Ealasaid (the Red House) bothy, and continues on foot crossing the Geldie burn, which can be impassable during spate conditions. The hills are rounded with pathless heather and peat-bog at times.
Requirements: Regular hill walking / long distance walking experience on higher hills like Scottish Munros (above 3,000ft).

Join us for a bike and hike of An Sgarsoch and Carn an Fhidhleir
Join us on a guided bike and hike to An Sgarsoch and Càrn an Fhidhleir, two remote Munros in the Cairngorms National Park. These rolling hills offer a true sense of wilderness. Departing from Linn o' Dee, the journey begins with an easy cycle to White Bridge and then to Ruighe Ealasaid (the Red House) bothy, possibly continuing further, where bikes can be left, cutting 15 km off the walk.
From the bothy, you’ll continue along Glen Geldie and cross the Geldie Burn, which can be impassable during spate conditions. From there, you will ascend the Munros in a circular route before rejoining the track and heading back to Linn o' Dee.
Please ensure your bike is in good working order, we advise getting it serviced before your trip. Bring a spare inner tube for your tyre size and a helmet. We also recommend bringing chain links, bacon strips (for tubeless tyres) and a bike lock. If your bike is deemed unsuitable it might not be possible to join the event.
