Wild Scottish Weddings

Being able to take people to remote places to be married, renew vows or for honeymoons is something we’ve been thinking about for quite a while. Only after reaching out to our local registrars did we decide to push the concept forward. They really helped us to build confidence in our idea, and offered to team up. Aberdeenshire Registrars conduct just about any type of service, some of which we’d never heard of! They offer traditional Scottish ceremonies like hand tying, quaich ceremonies or even the more unusual wine box ceremony. However, their ceremonies can be whatever you’d like them to be.

Just like the right to roam access we have in Scotland, the same applies to being married outdoors in Scotland. If you can find someone to carry out the ceremony you can get married just about anywhere you choose. Imagine being on top of Lochnagar or beside the beautifully remote Loch A’an in the Cairngorms or even inside the Shelter Stone, one of the famous Cairngorm howfs. A stunning, memorable wedding, so different to the normal white wedding day.

Wild Scottish Weddings is now up and running. We believe people shouldn't have to conform to keeping up with the trend of expensive weddings, the average cost is now over £30k! While we could help you with a large white wedding, make up etc, the stripped back wedding is our preference. Muddy boots, wind swept hair and rosy cheeks! Kilts are encouraged but it can be windy up the hills. Our environmental policy is simple too, take only photographs and leave only footprints. We’ve teamed up with Simone Smith Photography to help capture those special moments.

While we may be remote, we will still offer a touch of luxury along the way and at your ceremony location. Our preferred catering provider is Buchanan Bistro. They will provide beautiful delicious food for your day. We can also recommend locations for the ceremony and evening venues to continue the celebrations.

Our beautiful flowers in the photos are provided by Rosie’s Florist of Banchory.

Honeymoons can be multi day treks over the hills and through the glens, camping under the stars. Or, you could choose to do day walks from luxury accommodation like the Fife Arms in Braemar.

You can of course choose to use your own celebrant, photographer and catering. There are lots of choices and we look forward to helping you build the perfect Wild Scottish Wedding experience.
