WILD CAMP
BEINN A’ BHÙIRD & BEN AVON
Come on a wild camping trip with us into true Cairngorm wilderness!
Start Time: TBC
Location: Braemar. More information on meeting time and location will be provided closer to departure. It will likely be departing from either the Linn of Quoich or Keiloch carparks near Braemar.
Walk Grading: Level 5 walk. Find out more about our walk grading here.
Terrain: Covers a variety of terrain. The approaches are mostly good paths or stalkers tracks and the summit plateaus provide easy walking, which is pathless in places. There is a shallow river to cross if we decide to descend or ascend via Glen Quoich so a pair of Crocs or something similar will be useful.
Requirements: Although being a Level 5 walk this is a good introduction to multi day mountain walking.

Join us for a guided walk of Beinn a’Bhùird and Ben Avon
These munros are often combined in one mammoth day which is doable for the fit hillwalker but we believe this takes away from having time to appreciate the wilderness, history, wildlife and sheer scale of the area. We plan to take a more leisurely approach over two days which will include a wild camp on one of the high plateaus if conditions allow.
We’ll take in wild and remote glens, view the steep cliffs and great corries of Beinn a' Bhùird and wander among the immense granite tors of Ben Avon, one of Scotland's biggest mountains. Maybe we’ll get the chance to see the red listed dotterel on the tabletop plateau of Beinn a' Bhùird or stumble across a quarried vein of Cairngorm Gem on Ben Avon!
The route and camp location will be weather dependent, having two days will allow us to get off the beaten track and really explore the area. Our main objective however is to summit both Munros.
Munros
Beinn a' Bhùird (1197m) - the table hill & Ben Avon (1171m) - from the river name - the bright one
