A fantastic guided hill walk up to the magnificent Munro of Lochnagar (1155m). Located within the Balmoral Estate, this is one of the best hill walks in Scotland. Many songs and poems have been written about the grand Loch and Corrie.
Take in the magnificent views of Lochnagar and photograph the stags, mountain hare, ptarmigan and eagles! Learn about history of the area, flora and fauna. We will stop in the visitor centre at the Spital of Glen Muick too which has lots of good information about the area.
The walk will also take us onto the White Mounth, a vast plateau that stretches for miles between Munros. Mountain Hare and Ptarmigan can usually be found here by taking a short detour from the regular paths, allowing you to take photographs from a safe distance.
The walk returns via a short stop at the impressive waterfalls above Glas-Allt-Sheil and Queen Victoria’s (widows) lodge situated on the banks of beautiful Loch Muick.
Start time usually 9am from the visitor centre, returning to the car park at approximately 5pm. We'll take plenty of breaks along the way and the walks are never rushed. Total distance approximately 19km (12 miles) with an ascent of 920m.
