Join us for a walk up to Loch Callater then on to Munro, Carn an t-Sagairt Mor and possibly Tolmount depending on conditions.

This walk starts at Auchallater, just south of Braemar and follows the Callater burn all the way to the stunning Loch Callater. From here we might have a short stop in the bothy before heading up towards the first Munro, Carn an t-Sagairt Mor (1047m, the rocky hill of the big priest). The hill offers superb views and also has wreckage from a Canberra jet that crashed on the hill, 22nd November 1956. Depending on the weather and group we may extend the walk to the next Munro, Tolmount (958m, uncertain..). Good views of Loch Callater and beyond can be seen from this hill. If we do go this route we will descend via Jock’s Road to the loch again. We will take time to explore the views, wreckage, flora and fauna.

Total distance including Tolmount - 26km with 879m of ascent. 10km of this is on good level track up to the loch and back which could be biked. Walk departs at 9am. Kit requirements will be sent via email.

Contact us for more info. You can read an old blog about the walk here.

Terms and conditions apply. Garry will be the guide for this walk.
