Ben Macdui and the Cairngorm Plateau

At 1309m, Ben Macdui is the highest mountain in the Cairngorms, 2nd in Scotland below Ben Nevis. This is a magnificent hill walk, on a clear day the views are vast and breath-taking. Wandering over the plateau is an experience that will live with you forever. Perhaps we'll bump into the local reindeer herd if we're lucky. Ptarmigan and snow buntings are also a common sight.

This walk will leave from the Cairngorm Mountain ski centre car park. We will walk past the northern corries and over the plateau to Ben Macdui. A short walk from the summit gives excellent views into the Lairig Ghru and mountains beyond. On the way back we might wander over to look into Loch A'an before heading via Cairn Gorm (if time allows) and back to the ski centre.

Limited places available, contact us for more details. Approximate distance 16km with 1000m of ascent (if we go up Cairn Gorm too).
