Family Camping Adventure and Bronze Award!
3 days (one camp) in the Cairngorms -16th-18th July
We’re delighted to offer something unique for the school holidays. This 3 day, one over night camp will teach you how to look after yourselves on overnight camping expeditions in the wild and also comes with a Bronze National Navigation Award. With this award completed you will be able to confidently navigate on paths anywhere in the great outdoors.
Day 1 (10am) - Plan our over night expedition in the stunning Cairngorms. We’ll do navigation exercises, set up tents, do a spot of outdoor cooking and learn how to pack for the trip. This will be in either Braemar or Ballater Caravan site. You’ll then have the option to go home, stay on site or use any other accommodation near by.
Day 2 - Into the wild! We’ll start our planned journey that you have created. This will take us into a remote area with a lovely spot for an overnight camp. On the way there we’ll continue the navigation tuition too. Once in camp we’ll set up tents, play a few games, cook up dinner and hopefully have a beautiful starry night!
Day 3 - The journey home! We’ll wake up nice and refreshed….get the kettle on and have a delicious outdoor breakfast. Our planned trip will take us to some beautiful areas, we’ll take our time and enjoy the views and we’ll be able to pass on some hill skills along the way. We’ll also connect you with nature, pointing out the wildlife and flora too.
What you can expect:
Walking distance dictated by group, expect 15-20km each day but could be less
We will provide a choice of hot meals for day 2 dinner and breakfast for day 3, you will need to bring your own lunch for day 1, 2 and 3
We have limited camping equipment to lend out, you are encouraged to bring your own to try out and be confident using it after the event. We will provide kit advice on booking including recommended meal plans.
If successful, candidates gain a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 4
It will be fun!
There will be no Wi-Fi….
Scenery will take your breath away!
We can take young people on their own without parents but this event is designed to encourage families to give it a go. Even if you’re an expedition expert mum or dad, we know it’s not always cool to teach this stuff to the kids…we can help here!
There’s no age limit (up or down) but if youngsters do wish to come without parents we’d ask for aged 14 and up.
Contact us if you have any questions! Limited spaces available.
