For a long time, Ben Macdui was thought to be the highest mountain. It wasn’t until the development of accurate measurement did they discover it was smaller than Ben Nevis. At 1309m, Ben Macdui is the highest mountain in the Cairngorms. This is a magnificent hill walk, on a clear day the views are vast and breath-taking.
This walk will leave from the Cairngorm Mountain ski centre car park. We will walk past the northern corries and over the plateau to Ben Macdui. A short walk from the summit gives excellent views over the Lairig Ghru. On the way back we'll wander over to look into Loch Avon before heading via Cairn Gorm and back to the ski centre.
