Clachnaben is one of the most noticeable hills in Aberdeenshire, at a modest 589m the defining feature is the large granite tor on top.  It is situated up from Glen Dye and provides great views to the sea and over Aberdeenshire.  Walking this hill alone is a good afternoon well spent, on good paths all the way.  The walk can be extended to include the Corbett of Mount Battock, from which you can take in the view to the West, Lochnagar and Cairngorms.

The return journey can take us past Charr Bothy, maintained by the Mountain Bothy Association, which can provide a good resting point for before returning to the car park.
